End of an Era at Imperial Sugar Refinery

On Sunday, Dec. 19, two buildings at the old Imperial Sugar Company refinery in Sugar Land, Texas were imploded, wiping out a piece of local history in a matter of seconds.

Port Wentworth emergency response team and van. At Imperial SugarÕs Port Wentworth refinery, 70 employees have stepped forward to serve on the refineryÕs First Responder Team. Part of the team includes: (Front row kneeling l-r) Elton Brady, Dannie Barras, Willie Horton, (Back row l-r) Arthur Kelly, Randy Brewster, Joseph Barras, Wade Durden, Willie Garvin and Darren Pevey.
