Raylene Carter – Vice President, Manufacturing

Raylene M. Carter is the Vice President of Manufacturing for Imperial Sugar Company. She is responsible for all the manufacturing operations that Imperial Sugar wholly owns, which include its operations at Port Wentworth, Gramercy and the Ludlow, KY melting station. She also has responsibility for quality and food safety and directly oversees the Port Wentworth facility.

Carter joined the Imperial Sugar team in February 2009 after a more than 25 year career in an oil and chemical processing conversion industry. Prior to her promotion as VP of Manufacturing, Carter was the plant manager at the company’s Gramercy, La., plant. When she assumed the role as plant manager at Gramercy, Carter is believed to be the only woman in the U.S. sugar industry to run a facility up to that time. Under her leadership, the Gramercy refinery was able to increase its capacity to meet customer needs while the Port Wentworth refinery was closed after the 2008 explosion.
