George Muller
George Muller – Vice President – Sales Planning, Supply Chain & Information Technology
Promoted to Vice President – Sales Planning, Supply Chain & Information Technology in October 2010, George Muller now has the responsibilities for overseeing the pricing team, the sales planning and forecasting team as well as all Supply Chain activities that encompass purchasing, transportation (both rail and truck) as well as production planning. He also continues to oversee all corporate human resources and information technology responsibilities.
Prior to his current role, Muller was Vice President of Administration at Imperial Sugar Company, where he oversaw key corporate functions – including information technology, facilities management, human resources, payroll and benefits. He was also responsible for the company’s relationship with Michigan Sugar Company, in which Imperial Sugar provides logistics and transportation support.
Muller joined the company in 1997 as director of management information systems. Among his many career milestones, he led the implementation of a PeopleSoft ERP system that streamlined Imperial Sugar’s operations, and delivered significant cost savings.
Muller’s team also streamlined the process customers do business with the company by developing a special Web portal, which enables them to place orders around the clock. This is the only Web portal in the industry that gives customers access to real-time information, helping create greater efficiencies and cost savings within the supply chain.
Muller also is looking at an enhanced inventory control system using RFID technology. Under his direction, Imperial Sugar already has implemented RFID for its biggest customer, Wal-Mart – and integrated the tracking of plastic iGPS pallets. A new performance management approach is another of the many other projects on his drawing board.
Before joining the company, Muller worked as manager of systems development for San Antonio’s West Telemarketing Corporation. He also spent 17 years with Tesoro Petroleum, where he served as director of applications development.
Muller has a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration from Trinity University, and an MBA from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
