Savannah Black Expo Focuses on Business and Jobs
isc | Apr 08, 2010
Savannah’s First Black Expo is this weekend, bringing together African-American leaders from around the country with business to focus on jobs.
The purpose of the Black Expo is to promote economic development through increased exposure for minority-owned businesses. The Black Expo is the largest event of its kind that directly targets the African-American community. It provides African-American-owned businesses the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the public and procurement officers from major corporations and government entities.
Imperial Sugar Company, which has its largest sugar refinery located in nearby Port Wentworth, is participating in the Black Expo. Senior Procurement Manager Yvette Woodard says the company plans to fill more than 30 new jobs in coming weeks.
