Sharing the Holiday in Sugar Land

2009 Charity Committee Members

Among all the glorious traditions and symbols of the holiday season is the reminder of sharing and reflection upon those in our communities who might be in need of a helping hand. At Imperial Sugar’s headquarters at Sugar Land, Texas, many staff members volunteered extra time this holiday season to bring the spirit of sharing alive through a charity committee.

One purpose was to raise funds for the Snowdrop Foundation – affiliated with Texas Children’s Hospital – to help meet the needs of teens who are dealing with cancer. Various associate events at Imperial Sugar Company – such as cook-offs and bake sales – raised more than $4,600. The company kicked in additional funds to bring the total to $8,000.

The annual Giving Tree tradition at Imperial Sugar collected over 125 gifts that were presented to needy recipients at local rehabilitation and care centers, including Richmond Health Care Center and Park Manor of Quail Valley.

The company took part in the annual Share Your Christmas Food Drive donating several hundred 4-pound packages of sugar to the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry.

From everyone at Imperial Sugar Company … Happy Holidays!
