Imperial Sugar Company has announced that it settled the property insurance claim for the February 2008 industrial accident at its Port Wentworth, Ga, refinery for an aggregate of $345 million.

Report: Brazilian Sugar Shipments
Brazil shipped a total of 1,934,572 tonnes of sugar (1.61 million raw/322,800 whites) in November from both the center-south and the north- east. This compares with 2,259,197 tonnes shipped in October and 1,745,186 tonnes shipped in November of last year, reports Jenkins Sugar Group.
WASDE: No Change in Sugar Supply
The December USDA WASDE report – World Agriculture Supply and Demand Estimate – shows no change from the previous month in projected 2009/2010 sugar supply and use. Reporting December 10, the USDA estimated domestic sugar supply at 11.6 million tons, down 5.2 percent compared with a year earlier.
