Imperial Sugar Company made solid progress against its operational goals last year. That was the message delivered to nearly 70 associates at the company’s 2010 national sales conference in Sugar Land, Texas, in mid-November.

Attendees heard from top management about the company’s achievements in 2009 and its strategic focus for the year ahead. Paul Whitaker, vice president of sales, opened the conference and covered Imperial’s 2010 sales priorities. Imperial President and CEO John Sheptor discussed operational excellence and strategic imperatives for the company.

Company executives also took special note of the $220 million re-build in record time of its Port Wentworth sugar refinery, near Savannah, Ga., and a number of other initiatives, including the realignment of its supply chain, a stronger performance management culture and its successful joint venture for sourcing sugar in Mexico. Various sales associates were recognized for outstanding performance.

“Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our sales team and customer support associates, we made significant strides in the business in a very challenging year,” said Whitaker. “The sales conference gave us an opportunity to recognize some top performers and recharge our batteries for an even better 2010.”
