Sugar Harvest Looks Promising

THIBODAUX — For a couple of weeks, sugar-cane farmers in southern Louisiana were concerned that persistent rain would slow the harvest and leave their equipment stuck in the mud.
But with the weather beginning to dry up, local farmers such as Daniel Naquin say it should be a slightly better than average year for sugar harvesting.

“It started off slow,” Naquin said, “but it’s increasing now.”
